What chain length: short, medium, or long

Choose the length when you buy. It determines where the pendant will sit.

Chain Where the pendant sits
short: 42–45 cm just below the collarbones; for V-necks and shirts
medium: 60–63 cm at the breastbone; for sweaters with a crew neck
long: 80–83 cm below the bust; for turtlenecks and chunky sweaters

These are lengths for an average build. With a wider neck or a more solid build, the same chain will sit a little higher. The easiest way to check is with a piece of string: measure the length, tie it, and try it on over the sweater you wear most often. The string will show the chain’s lowest point, and the pendant will hang a little lower. We write more about which length works with different sweaters in our article about necklaces to wear with sweaters.

Amethyst costs PLN 206 with a short chain, PLN 226 with a medium chain, and PLN 268 with a long chain. Raw aquamarine costs PLN 218 with a short chain, PLN 278 with a medium chain, and PLN 321 with a long chain.

If you already have a chain, you can also buy each of these pendants without one. We explain what to check to make sure a pendant fits your chain in our article about silver chains for pendants.

Raw aquamarine: each stone has a different shape

Raw means the stone has not been polished. A gold-plated setting with a loop for the chain wraps around its top, leaving the rest of the stone exposed. Aquamarine is a variety of beryl, and its blue hue comes from iron.

W this necklace with an angular aquamarine stone, the stone measures approx. 3 × 3 cm and is roughly square in shape. It has a sea-blue-green hue, with darker patches interspersed with icy blue.

The other rough stones come in different sizes. The smallest measures approx. 2.5 × 2.5 cm, the wider one approx. 4 × 3 cm, and the longest, narrow one, approx. 5 × 2 cm. The price is the same: 218 PLN with a short chain. W on the Mohs scale, aquamarine has a hardness of 7.5–8.

03

Small ovals: amethyst, lapis lazuli, larimar, and rose quartz

The second style is a smoothly polished oval measuring approx. 1 × 1 cm. The setting holds the stone at the edge and extends upward into a loop. Each oval is a one-of-a-kind piece.

Amethyst has a pure violet hue that lightens to lilac toward the bottom of the stone. The oval is translucent, so you can see fine, lighter streaks inside.

Lapis lazuli has a deep cornflower blue hue with sparkling flecks. These golden points are pyrite, one of the minerals that make up this rock. It costs 216 zł with a short chain.

Larimar has a light blue hue with a white web-like pattern. This stone is found in only one country: the Dominican Republic. It costs 226 zł with a short chain.

Rose quartz has a light, powdery pink hue with a milky depth. This oval has a setting and chain made of gold-plated 925 sterling silver. It costs 248 zł with a short chain.

Gold or silver color

Choose the metal color to match the jewelry you wear most often.

  • Aquamarine: gold-plated brass setting, chain made of gold-plated 925 sterling silver.
  • Rose quartz: setting and chain made of gold-plated 925 sterling silver.
  • Amethyst, lapis lazuli, larimar: setting and chain made of 925 sterling silver.

Gold plating is a coating of 24-karat gold. It comes with a one-year warranty: if a claim is approved, we will replate the pendant. The warranty does not cover the chain. Uncoated silver darkens over time.

You can pair the necklace with earrings featuring the same stone. For advice on putting together a set with one stone and one metal, read our guide to jewelry sets.

Fun fact

The name “aquamarine” comes from the Latin aqua marina, meaning “sea water.” This stone’s color ranges from icy blue to sea green.

How to wear and clean a gemstone necklace

Fasten the Aquamarine Necklace last, after applying makeup and perfume. Take it off before bathing and sleeping. Keep amethyst and rose quartz out of strong sunlight, as they may fade over time. Clean the gold-plated setting with a soft cloth, without using a silver polishing cloth or polishing compounds.

Fasten the Amethyst Necklace once your perfume and lotion have dried, and take it off before bed and swimming. You can wipe the silver setting with a silver polishing cloth, avoiding the stone.

Take off your rose quartz necklace before swimming, using the sauna or going to the beach. Put it back on when you return, once your skin is dry. Store each necklace in a soft pouch or a separate compartment of a jewelry box.
