Pyrite from Peru on a black stand: the specimen is 7 cm wide and 5 cm high, while the stand raises it to 10 cm. The brass-gold cubic crystals have flat faces that reflect daylight like metal, although they are a mineral - iron sulfide. It weighs 350 g and takes up about as much space on a desk as a cup; up close, you can see how the cubes grow together.

About the stone
Pyrite is iron sulfide that crystallizes in the cubic crystal system, forming geometric cubes and pentagonal dodecahedra. Because of its intense metallic luster and golden color, it is sometimes called “fool's gold”. It forms through hydrothermal processes and in sedimentary rocks. Care
Pyrite does not tolerate moisture well, so clean it only when dry, using a soft brush or cloth. Place the specimen on a level surface, away from edges.
