Tourmaline ring on a wedding band
Tourmaline Ring with Band
A raw tourmaline crystal from Brazil - black and gold, with elongated striations - set on a gold-plated brass band. The band is adjustable: it can be expanded by several sizes, so the same ring can be worn on the ring finger or index finger. The stone has a glassy sheen on the ridges of the striations and a matte finish in the grooves; the black appears deep against the gold plating. The crystal is not cut - its edges are exactly as they grew.

About the stone
Tourmalines are a group of borosilicates with highly variable chemical compositions that crystallize in pegmatites and metamorphic rocks. They are among the most color-diverse minerals in the world. They are characterized by a glassy sheen and distinct, elongated striations on their crystals. Some specimens display zoned structures, changing shade along a single prism. Care
