Gold-Plated Raw Pyrite Necklace
Necklace with raw pyrite from Peru; the stone in the pendant measures approximately 2.5 × 2.5 cm. The pyrite is held in a gold-plated basket setting with prongs that wrap around its sides, leaving the crystal-covered top exposed. The crystals evenly cover the entire surface, right to the edges, with darker, steel-gray crystals interspersed among the light gold ones. Many of the crystals form small, well-defined cubes. The stone shown in the photos is the exact piece we will send.

About the stone
Chemically, pyrite is iron sulfide, which forms perfectly geometric crystals. They grow as cubes or pentagonal dodecahedra, with flat faces that have a metallic golden sheen. Because of its intense luster, it is known as “fool’s gold.” Learn more in the article Pyrite — Fool’s Gold on our blog.
Care
Apply cosmetics first, and put on your necklace just before leaving home. Clean the gold-plated surface with a soft cloth, without using a silver polishing cloth or polishing compounds. Remove pyrite jewelry before bathing or swimming. The gold plating is covered by a one-year warranty: if a claim is accepted, we will replate the pendant (the warranty does not cover the chain). The plating can also be refreshed later at our workshop — the boutique can provide the price and turnaround time. Store it in a soft pouch or a separate compartment in your jewelry box.
