Gilded necklace with raw pyrite
Necklace with raw pyrite from Peru; the stone in the pendant measures approximately 3 × 2 cm. A gilded basket setting with prongs that wrap around its sides holds the pyrite, leaving the crystal-covered top exposed. The pyrite in this teardrop forms distinct, angular cubes with a metallic golden sheen and stepped faces. The stone narrows toward the top, and its edge has a darker, grayish tone. The stone shown in the photos is the exact one we will ship.

About the stone
Pyrite is chemically iron sulfide and crystallizes in forms with ideal geometry: cubes and pentagonal dodecahedra. Its cubic crystals have a metallic golden sheen, and its intense luster has earned pyrite the nickname “fool’s gold.” Learn more in the article Pyrite — fool’s gold on our blog.
Care
Wear your pyrite necklace every day, but remove it for sports, cleaning, and sleep. Clean the gold-plated surface with a soft cloth, without using a silver polishing cloth or polishing compounds. Remove pyrite jewelry before bathing or swimming. The gold plating is covered by a one-year warranty: if your claim is approved, we will replate the pendant (the warranty does not cover the chain). The plating can also be refreshed later at our workshop — the boutique can provide the price and turnaround time. Store it in a soft pouch or a separate compartment in a jewelry box.
