About the Stone
Onyx is an exceptionally hard, cryptocrystalline variety of chalcedony that forms in post-volcanic cavities where layers of silica deposit over time. It is this slow geological process, taking millions of years, that gives it such a magnetic, uniform depth of black that does not let light through.
