Blue Kyanite on Stand No. 248
Place this nine-centimetre-high raw kyanite on a dresser or desk. The stone displays a cool blue hue with lighter streaks running along its bladed crystals. Daylight filters through the translucent edges, revealing their natural pearly, glassy lustre. This specimen is characterised by a geometric structure and pronounced cleavage. The metal stand gives the piece a modern character.

About the stone
Blue kyanite is an aluminium silicate that forms in metamorphic rocks under high pressure. It forms distinctive bladed and tabular crystals with pronounced cleavage. This mineral is distinguished by unusual, directional hardness—it is significantly softer along the crystal axis than across it, which historically earned it the name disthene, meaning a stone with two strengths.
Care
Due to kyanite’s cleavage and variable hardness, clean it only with a soft, dry cloth and protect it from impacts. Store it in a soft pouch or a separate compartment of a jewellery box.
