Gold-Plated Drop Earrings with Pyrite

This pair of drop earrings features post backs and two stones: raw pyrite from Peru, each measuring approximately 1.5 × 1.5 cm. Each piece of pyrite is held in a gold-plated claw setting, leaving the crystal-covered top exposed. Pyrite crystals have a metallic golden sheen and flat, mirror-like faces. One drop has small, tightly packed crystals, while the other has larger ones with broad faces. The stone shown in the photos is the exact one we will send.

About the Stone

Pyrite is nicknamed “fool’s gold” because of its intense metallic sheen. Beneath that shine lies iron sulfide, a mineral that naturally forms geometric crystals: cubes and pyritohedra. Learn more in the article Pyrite — Fool’s Gold on our blog.

Care

Apply makeup and perfume before putting on the earrings, and remove them before exercising or sleeping. Clean the gold-plated surface with a soft cloth; do not use silver polishing cloths or polishing pastes. Remove pyrite jewelry before bathing or swimming. The gold plating is covered by a one-year warranty: if a claim is approved, we will replate the earrings. The plating can also be refreshed later in our workshop — the boutique can provide the price and turnaround time. Store in a soft pouch or a separate compartment in a jewelry box.
