Emerald platter - a flat piece measuring 33 cm wide and 21 cm deep, with gilded edges, for use as a decorative tray on a table or dresser. The polished interior has a glass-like sheen and reveals natural inclusions; the mineral's cool green color looks best in daylight. It is just 2 cm high and weighs 1.82 kg; the low base raises it slightly above the tabletop.

About the stone
Emerald is a green precious variety of beryl, a beryllium aluminium silicate. It owes its distinctive cool color to traces of chromium and vanadium. This stone most often forms in pegmatites and contact-metamorphic zones. The most historically and currently important deposits of this mineral are located in Brazil, Colombia, and Zambia.
