About the stone
Emerald is a green, precious variety of beryl, composed of beryllium and aluminium silicate. It owes its distinctive cool colour to traces of chromium and vanadium. This stone most commonly forms in pegmatites and contact-metamorphic zones. The most historically and currently significant deposits of this mineral are located in Brazil, Colombia, and Zambia.
