About the stone
Tiger’s eye is a variety of quartz formed through pseudomorphosis after fibrous crocidolite. The original fibers were replaced by silica while retaining their parallel arrangement. These microscopic fibers are responsible for the cat’s-eye effect, or chatoyancy — a moving band of light visible as the stone is rotated.
