About the stone
Emerald is the green variety of beryl, a ring silicate whose colour comes from traces of chromium and vanadium. This stone crystallises in pegmatites and metamorphic zones. The world’s main deposits of this mineral are located in Colombia, Brazil and Zambia. It is characterised by a glassy lustre and internal inclusions, known in France as 'jardin', meaning garden, which are evidence of its natural origin.
