Labradorite Necklace
Labradorite Necklace
Natural, uncut labradorite from Brazil, set in gold-plated silver. The gray, steel-colored stone holds a surprise: at the right angle, a metallic blue and gold flash emerges from within, then disappears when the stone is tilted. This is labradorescence - the play of light across thin layers inside the mineral. On the 45 cm chain, the pendant sways as you walk and naturally catches this angle; the 63 and 83 cm versions hang lower and sway more noticeably.

About the stone
Labradorite is a feldspar from the plagioclase series that forms in mafic igneous rocks. It takes its name from the Labrador Peninsula in Canada, where it was first discovered and described. The defining feature of this mineral is labradorescence - the phenomenon of light interference across thin layers inside the crystal. This process is what makes the gray, opaque stone shimmer with colorful flashes at the right angle. Learn more in the article Labradorite - the stone of the northern lights on our blog.
Care
Protect the gold-plated silver and labradorite from contact with perfume and water, and use only a dry, soft cloth for cleaning. Store it in a soft pouch or a separate compartment of your jewelry box.
