About the stone
Kyanite is an aluminum silicate formed in metamorphic rocks under high pressure. It is characterized by unusual directional hardness — along the crystal’s axis, it is softer than across it, hence its former name “dysten,” meaning “of two strengths.” It forms elongated, blade-like shapes with excellent cleavage and a pearly, glassy sheen, shimmering in cool shades of sapphire and blue.
Care
Due to kyanite’s directional hardness and the silver’s gold plating, the necklace should be cleaned only with a dry, soft cloth, without detergents. Store it in a soft pouch or a separate compartment of a jewelry box.
