Druzy Agate Necklace
A black agate oval from Brazil with a druzy centre, set in gold-plated silver. A smooth, dark edge surrounds a hollow filled with tiny crystals; these sparkle when light falls at an angle, while the black rim remains matt. Against the light, the pattern of layers in the edge is visible. The gold plating on the black creates a sharp contrast — the pendant is visible even on a dark jumper. Three chain lengths: 45, 63 and 83 cm; on the longest, the oval falls below the bust.

About the stone
Agate is a variety of chalcedony that forms in desert and volcanic rocks. It is characterized by a concentric arrangement of multicolored layers, creating a hypnotic pattern in cross-section. Geological processes give each specimen a unique arrangement of lines. No two pieces are identical, as a result of the natural accumulation of silica in cavities within the rock.
