The anniversaries named after gemstones are pearl (30th), coral (35th), ruby (40th), sapphire (45th), emerald (55th), diamond (60th) and brilliant (75th). Silver (25th) and golden (50th) anniversaries are named after metals, while the 55th anniversary is also called the platinum anniversary. Crystal in the name of the 15th anniversary traditionally refers to crystal glass. - Golden anniversary: after at least 50 years of marriage, both spouses may receive the Medal for Long Marital Life from the president.
- Diamond and brilliant: the diamond (60th) and brilliant (75th) anniversaries are named after the same stone because a brilliant is a diamond with a brilliant cut.
- Ruby and sapphire: the ruby (40th) and sapphire (45th) anniversaries share one mineral, corundum. Red corundum is ruby, while corundum in any other color is sapphire.
- Pearl and coral: they are formed by living organisms, which is why gemologists classify them as organic materials.

Crystal anniversary (15th): traditionally, this refers to glass
Traditional crystal glass is colorless and transparent glass containing lead oxide, mainly used to make decorative items. In 1922, Emily Post described eight anniversaries, including the crystal anniversary, in an American etiquette guide. In 1937, the American jewelry association added most of the remaining years to the list.
In jewelry, rock crystal, or colorless quartz, looks similar, except that it is a natural stone. Our rhodium-plated 925 silver drop costs PLN 299 and hangs from a 42 cm chain with a 3 cm extender.
The name rock crystal comes from the Greek word krystallos, meaning ice.
Silver and golden anniversaries: a gift for the 25th and 50th wedding anniversaries
The Medal for Long Marital Life was established in 1960. In Mazovia, according to the voivodeship office, the couple submits a shortened copy of the marriage certificate and copies of both identity cards to the civil registry office in their place of residence. The application is prepared by the office.

Pearl anniversary (30th) and coral anniversary (35th)
A pearl is produced inside a mollusk, while coral is a calcium carbonate skeleton built by tiny marine polyps. The Gemological Institute of America classifies both as organic materials.
The pearl bracelet with approximately 4 mm beads on a lilac cord costs PLN 69. The coral bracelet has approximately 3 mm faceted beads made of red-dyed coral, on a red cord, and costs PLN 79. Both have a universal size and elements in silver or gold-plated silver. It is a small gift that can be added to flowers.
Ruby anniversary (40th wedding anniversary) and sapphire anniversary (45th)
Both necklaces we recommend for these anniversaries are made with corundum: one has red ruby beads, and the other has blue sapphire beads.
The ruby necklace features 3 mm beads, is 40 cm long, and has a 5 cm extender, so there is no need to guess the size.
The necklace with blue sapphire beads hangs on a silver cord with a matching extender and costs PLN 270.
Emerald (55th), diamond (60th), and brilliant (75th)
After the golden anniversary, the gemstone anniversaries are the emerald, diamond, and brilliant anniversaries, and some lists also include the flint anniversary (65th). Diamond and brilliant anniversaries share the same gemstone in their names: in jewelry terminology, a brilliant is a round diamond with a full brilliant cut and at least 57 facets. The stone anniversary (70th) includes a stone in its name without specifying which one.

Full years since the wedding count: the paper anniversary is celebrated after one year, the wooden after 5 years, the tin after 10, the porcelain after 20, the silver after 25, the golden after 50, and the diamond after 75.
What are wedding anniversaries called in order?
For the first 15 years, each year has its own name, from paper to crystal anniversaries. After that, only anniversaries every five years are named, from porcelain (20th) to diamond (75th), while Polish lists usually end with oak (80th).
