Grandma can put on a bracelet herself if it doesn’t have a lobster clasp, and we’ve picked five like that: she can slip the elastic one over her hand like a hair tie, or tighten the cord one with its macramé closure by pulling each end in turn. A chain bracelet’s lobster clasp is usually hard to fasten yourself because one hand is inside the bracelet. The least expensive options, at PLN 79 each, are two cord bracelets, including the Tiger’s Eye Good Luck Bracelet. The most expensive is the malachite bracelet, with beads about 8 mm across, for PLN 200. If the gift is for Urszula’s name day on Wednesday and you’re short on time, visit our boutique on Grzybowska Street in Warsaw.
- On elastic: no clasp; just slip it over your hand. Sizes S, M, and L fit wrist circumferences of 13–14, 15–16, and 17–18 cm, respectively.
- On a cord: tighten the macramé closure by pulling both ends of the cord. The size is universal, making it a better choice if you don’t know the wrist measurement or if the widest part of the hand is noticeably wider than the wrist.
- Prices: the tiger’s eye and moonstone cord bracelets are both PLN 79; the elastic rose quartz bracelet with a pendant is PLN 139, garnet is PLN 160, and malachite is PLN 200.
- For Urszula’s name day (Wed, Oct 21): visit our boutique at Grzybowska 61/5 in Warsaw (opening hours and phone number are in the boutique box below). We ship parcels within 1–3 business days, so if you’re outside Warsaw, a digital gift card from PLN 50, delivered by email, is a surer bet.
Why clasps are a hassle
With a lobster clasp, you have to hold the end of the chain and fit the clasp into a small ring, so you usually need an extra pair of hands.
An elastic bracelet has no clasp: stretch it so it slips over your hand, and it returns to its original circumference on your wrist.
A macramé closure is a sliding knot on a cord. Loosen the loop, put your hand through it, then use your free hand to pull each end in turn until the bracelet fits snugly. To take it off, simply loosen the loop again.
On an elastic cord: rose quartz with a gold-plated pendant, PLN 139
In the rose quartz bracelet with a gold-plated pendant for PLN 139, the light pink beads are approx. 8 mm, making them easier to hold between your fingers than smaller stones. The beads are strung on jewelry elastic. The pendant is a faceted pink stone in a gold-plated setting. The setting and metal beads are made only of gold-plated silver, and the bracelet is available in sizes S, M, and L.
On an elastic cord: garnet, beads approx. 4 mm, PLN 160
Garnet has a Mohs hardness of 6.5–7.5, so it’s noticeably harder than malachite, and the garnet bracelet for PLN 160 will withstand frequent wear better than the malachite one. Store it separately from harder stones in your jewelry box to prevent scratches. The faceted burgundy beads are approx. 4 mm, and the single metal bead is made of silver or gold-plated silver, as you prefer. The sizes are the same: S, M, and L.
On an elastic cord: malachite, beads approx. 8 mm, PLN 200
The smooth malachite beads, approx. 8 mm, have a deep green color with stripes in several shades, and the metal beads are made of silver or gold-plated silver.
Malachite is soft, with a Mohs hardness of 3.5–4, so this bracelet is best worn for special occasions. It’s better to take it off when washing dishes or applying hand cream. Clean it with a soft, slightly damp cloth, without soaking or using detergents, as described in our guide on how to clean natural stone jewelry.
On a cord: tiger’s eye, one size, PLN 79
The Tiger’s Eye Lucky Bracelet for PLN 79 has small brown stones, approx. 3 mm, on a beige cord. The shimmering beads by the macramé clasp are made of silver or gold-plated silver, as you prefer. It’s one size, so Grandma can adjust how loosely the bracelet sits.
On a cord: moonstone on a lilac cord, PLN 79
The Good Luck Bracelet with moonstone, also for 79 zł, has one white stone, about 4 mm, on a lilac cord, with faceted silver or gold-plated silver beads by the clasp. It’s a small gift for a name day or from the grandchildren when you’re on a tight budget.
Elastic or cord: which to choose for your grandma
| Mechanism | Size | When to choose |
|---|---|---|
| elastic (01–03) |
S, M, L for wrist circumferences of 13–14, 15–16, and 17–18 cm | when you know your grandma’s wrist circumference and her hand isn’t much wider at the knuckles than her wrist |
| cord (04–05) |
adjustable | when you don’t know her wrist circumference or her hand is noticeably wider at the knuckles than her wrist |
Care for both types: keep them dry. Hot water and detergent weaken the elastic, and getting it wet makes it lose its stretch sooner; wipe the stones on the cord with a damp cloth.
If you prefer elastic and don’t know your grandma’s wrist circumference, choose M (15–16 cm), the middle size. All three elastic bracelets come in this size, for example, the garnet bracelet for 160 zł. See our bracelet sizing guide to learn how to measure a wrist.
What should you buy for your 80-year-old grandma?
A bracelet she can put on without anyone’s help, meaning one without a lobster clasp. If she has trouble grasping small pieces, choose 8 mm beads on elastic: rose quartz with a pendant or malachite. If you don’t know her wrist circumference, choose an adjustable cord bracelet: tiger’s eye or moonstone, each for 79 zł.
Choose the metal to match what your grandma already wears. If she wears silver, the only option that won’t work is the rose quartz bracelet with a pendant; for the other four, you can choose silver or gold-plated silver beads. We’ve gathered some quick gift ideas for milestone birthdays, including an 80th, in our article gifts for women.
Garnet is the January birthstone on the list of monthly birthstones published by GIA, the American Gemological Institute. Grandparents’ Day is celebrated in Poland on January 21, so a garnet bracelet is also a fitting gift for the occasion. We’ve collected the birthstones for the other months in our guide to birthstones by date of birth.
At the boutique, try it on your own wrist to see how the elastic stretches and how the cord tightens. If you’re coming for a specific bracelet, call before you leave: we’ll check whether it’s in stock.

How we researched this. Prices, options, metal, bead size, and clasp type were taken from brazi.pl product pages on October 2, 2026, and prices were checked again on October 19, 2026. We described the colors of the stones and cords based on the product photos. We described how to put the bracelets on based on their construction, as shown in the photos and product descriptions (jewelry elastic or an adjustable macramé knot), and you can check this in person at the boutique. GIA lists garnet’s hardness as 6.5–7.5 on the Mohs scale, depending on the variety, and identifies it as January’s birthstone. Malachite’s hardness is listed by the gemological service Gemdat. We got Grandmother’s Day from Wikipedia and Urszula’s name day from a name-day calendar. We checked search demand on September 30 and October 2 using Google Ads estimates (via DataForSEO): “gift for grandma” had 6,600 searches in October 2025 and 74,000 in January 2026; “gift for grandma for her name day” had 480 in October 2025, with an annual average of 260 per month.
