About the stone
Labradorite is a feldspar from the plagioclase series that forms in mafic igneous rocks. The mineral’s name refers to the Canadian Labrador Peninsula, where it was first described in detail. It is characterized by an opaque, steel-gray base and a strong sheen. Due to labradorescence—the interference of light in thin layers within the crystal—the stone displays multicolored, metallic flashes.
