About the stone
Kyanite is an aluminium silicate that forms in metamorphic rocks under high pressure. It develops distinctive, bladed crystals with perfect cleavage and a pearly to vitreous luster. A mineralogical curiosity is its directional hardness, which is significantly lower along the crystal axis than across it. For this reason, it was formerly called disthene, meaning “two strengths.”
Care
Due to kyanite’s cleavage and the gold plating on the silver, clean the necklace only with a dry, soft cloth and avoid contact with water. Store it in a soft pouch or a separate compartment of your jewelry box.
