About the stone
Blue kyanite is an aluminum silicate formed in metamorphic rocks under high pressure. It creates distinctive, bladed and platy crystals with perfect cleavage. It has unique directional hardness, known as dystene: across the crystal, it is approximately 7 on the Mohs scale, while along the crystal it drops to just under 5.
Care
Due to kyanite’s directional hardness and cleavage, clean the mineral only with a dry, soft cloth and do not use water. Store it in a soft pouch or a separate compartment of a jewelry box.
